There are a few important tasks to undertake in order to get your air conditioner ready for the spring and summer. We’ve put together an AC checklist to make sure your cooling system will be ready when the warm weather finally arrives in the Windsor-Essex & Chatham-Kent areas.
- Clear Out Debris Around Condenser
During the fall and winter—leaves, twigs and other debris can blow around and get caught around the condenser. As part of your spring AC checklist, make sure to remove any obstructions around the outdoor unit to ensure it properly operates. It’s also a good idea to periodically check and clean around the unit during the spring and summer—especially after a storm.
- Check and Change Air Filter
Improving indoor air quality should be a priority for every homeowner, but is especially important for people that suffer from allergies or breathing problems. To keep dust and allergens from circulating in your home, check and change air filters on a regular basis. Some filters need to be replaced every 30 days, while others can be used for six months before replacement. To ensure you’re always breathing the cleanest air possible, set a reminder to check filters monthly and change as needed.
- Schedule Annual Air Conditioner Maintenance
The best way to get your AC ready for the spring and summer is to schedule your annual inspection. A professional cooling technician will clean key components of the systems, perform a safety inspection and can make small adjustments. This can lead to increased efficiency and reliability and can also help prevent a mid-summer breakdown by spotting any problems early.
Use our AC checklist to get your cooling system ready for the warm weather that’s hopefully on its way. If you have any questions or want to schedule your annual AC inspection, don’t hesitate to contact Fahrhall Home Comfort Specialists, we’re always happy to help!
