Central Air Conditioner Maintenance for the Fall
- AC Maintenance, Air Conditioner Tips, Fahrhall, Home Comfort, Windsor
When the weather changes and you no longer need to run your central AC, take some time to ensure the system is clean, protected and serviced. A little bit of air conditioner maintenance in the fall will help ensure it’s ready when you need it next spring!
Clean Around the Unit
Leaves, twigs and other debris can get caught around the outdoor condenser, which can attract animals and damage the unit during storms. You might also want to cover the system to prevent snow, ice and hail from entering the unit. Just remember that the condenser needs to have sufficient airflow to prevent rust and mildew.
Turn off Power
Since you don’t need to run the air conditioner during the fall and winter, it’s always advisable to turn off the power to the system. This will prevent the AC system from accidentally turning on during a warm day and possibly causing damage.
Schedule Professional Air Conditioner Maintenance
It’s important to have annual professional AC maintenance. While many people schedule their appointments at the beginning of the season, you can still schedule it now if it wasn’t done earlier. A bonus is that you can get your air conditioner and furnace serviced at the same time, ensuring total home comfort all year long.
Take some time at the end of the summer season to ensure that your air conditioner is clean, protected and serviced before the cold weather arrives.
