Heat Pump Installation Grants in Windsor
Heat pumps are helping Canadians lower their energy usage and therefore their energy costs. They also help reduce a household’s carbon footprint! Since they only transfer warm air instead of generating it, heat pumps can use up to 70% less energy than conventional heating and cooling systems. If you’re looking into installing a heat pump in Windsor, make sure to take advantage of the available grants and rebates.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant
When you install a heat pump in Windsor, you can take advantage of grants and rebates. The Canada Greener Homes Grant is available to all eligible Windsor homeowners. The Government of Canada is encouraging Canadians to make their homes more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly by making changes to their homes. You could receive up to $6,500 for installing a heat pump in your home. Plus, you could get up to $600 for your EnerGuide Home Evaluation.
Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) Program
Enbridge Gas is offering enhanced rebates. They have teamed up with the federal government to co-deliver the HER+ (Home Efficiency Rebate Plus) Program. Through this program, eligible homeowners can get up to $7,800 to install qualifying ENERGY STAR heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. Plus, you could get an additional $600 for the mandatory EnerGuide evaluation.
The co-delivery of this program makes for a quick and easy application process as it combines the grants and rebates into one application.
Eligibility for Heat Pump Installation Grants in Windsor
Are you eligible?
The eligibility criteria for the Greener Homes Grant are as follows:
- The applicant is the owner of the house for which they are applying.
- The applicant must apply for the property that is their primary residence or their rental property, of which they are the landlord.
- The applicant must be able to provide proof that the property is their primary residence or rental property.
The Enbridge Gas enhanced rebates criteria are as follows:
- The applicant is an Enbridge Gas customer or making the switch to Enbridge Gas.
- The applicant is applying for the property that is their primary residence or their rental property.
Eligible Properties
The properties that are eligible for the grant include:
- Single and semi-detached houses
- Row housing
- Townhomes
- All-season cottages
- Mobile homes on permanent foundation
- Permanently-moored floating homes
- Small, low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (3 storeys or less)
- Mixed-use buildings (for residential portion only)
Eligible Heat Pumps
The following heat pumps could be covered:
- Ground source heat pumps
- Air source heat pumps
- Cold climate air source heat pumps
- Domestic hot water heat pumps
- Ductless heat pumps
- Mini-split or multi-split ducted or ductless systems
How to Take Advantage of Heat Pump Installation Grants in Windsor
1. Contact us
Contact Fahrhall for help accessing these grants. We can help you schedule the mandatory pre-upgrade EnerGuide home assessment.
2. Have us install the heat pump(s).
After your home evaluation, we will install your heat pump. It’s required that a licensed HVAC company or contractor perform the installation of the eligible equipment within 12 months of your energy evaluation.
3. Get the post-upgrade energy evaluation.
When we’ve completed the installation, we’ll help you schedule the post-upgrade home energy evaluation with a Registered Energy Advisor. After that, all that’s left to do is submit the required paperwork and wait for your cheque in the mail!

We had a different company come out to check it out, and it was going to be an... expensive repair for an old furnace so we decided to just get a new one. I recently had a tankless water unit installed and I was very impressed by Dennis, the technician doing the installation. What is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is a home HVAC system like no other. What makes a heat pump unique is that it is able to both cool and heat your home depending on the season. Instead of having a furnace and an air conditioner that require individual maintenance, you only need to maintain and care for one system all year long.
How Does a Heat Pump Work?
One reason that a heat pump is so efficient and cost-effective is that, unlike a traditional furnace or air conditioner that creates cool or hot air, a heat pump moves hot air that is already in the atmosphere.
