There might be times you need to reset your air conditioner. Most often, this will be required if there’s been a power outage, and the air conditioner was tripped and shut off. In order to get the cool air flowing again, you’ll likely need to reset it.
How To Reset an Air Conditioner
First, make sure that there is power to the system and reset the breaker if needed. Many AC systems have a reset button. Usually, the button is red and fairly small in size. It should also be clearly marked as a reset button. If you’re unsure where to find the button, consult the owner’s manual.
Once you’ve found the button, press it continuously for 3 seconds and then release it. After waiting for a few minutes, press the button again for 3 seconds. Your air conditioning unit should respond with a beep that it was successfully reset. Once the AC system has been successfully reset, you should be able to run the air conditioning normally.
If the reset button doesn’t work, you can’t find it, or you’re just not comfortable resetting the system, don’t hesitate to call for professional assistance.
