Importance of a Level Air Conditioner
- Advice, Air Conditioner Tips, Fahrhall, HVAC Tips, Safety
The importance of a level air conditioner cannot be overstated and that’s why Fahrhall Home Comfort technicians always take great care to ensure that on every install, the condenser is completely level.
When a condenser unit is level, refrigerant and oil can easily travel throughout the whole unit. However, a tilted system can cause liquids to pool in the tubing, preventing it from reaching all required areas. This can cause performance and efficiency issues. If the tilt is severe enough, refrigerant and oil can leak out, causing significant damage within the condenser.
Another concern is the internal stress from vibrations. An air conditioner sitting on an uneven surface can cause the whole unit to vibrate when it’s in use. The constant vibrations can stress components, wearing them out and causing a premature breakdown.
To ensure you have a level air conditioner, always make sure to hire a reputable installation company that doesn’t cut corners. They should always take the time to properly prepare the ground and slab so there’s decreased risk the condenser will shift in the future. Another way to help protect your AC system is to schedule annual air conditioner maintenance. During this yearly appointment, a technician will inspect the system to ensure it’s level and make adjustments as needed.
If you notice that you are having a problem with a level air conditioner, please don’t try to fix it yourself. There are delicate components inside the condenser and it’s extremely easy to damage or kink the tubing. Always call a certified cooling specialist if you have any questions or concerns.
